While I do have preferences for 78s, I WILL CERTAINLY LOOK THROUGH YOUR RECORDS IF YOU CONTACT ME and will get rid of them for you! Please shoot an email or call me right away if you have any shellac records and all questions will be answered.
I am always looking for specific records though such as:
1910s/1900s minstrel/vaudeville/ragtime/popular records - Arthur Collins, Harry Macdonough, Billy Murray, Ada Jones, Len Spencer etc. Labels included are Victor/Monarch record/Victor grand prize, Columbia/Black & Silver Columbia, Berliner, Busy Bee, Zonophone, and many many more
British/French/German Records - While I’d certainly like any, early British acoustic records are my thing with labels such as Winner, Jumbo, His Master’s Voice, Regal, Gramophone Concert Record (G&T) etc. Typical performers on these labels were Stanley Kirkby, Harry Cove, Florrie Forde, Billy Whitlock etc. Many other labels that came later or went on later were Odeon, Imperial, His Master’s Voice, Columbia, Zonophone etc. French pressings of labels such as Odeon, Swing, Ultraphone etc. are very interesting also, German labels were mainly Polydor, Gramophon, also Odeon etc.
Old Blues & Country from the 20s and 30s - Names such as Bessie/Clara Smith, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Jimmie Rodgers and many others (Stringbands, jugbands, blind pre fix etc., guitar and fiddle) are the most famous examples. This music is typically found on labels such as Herwin, Gennett, Champion, Paramount, Victor Scroll V-38000/40000 series etc.
Pre-War and Post War Jazz - Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton on Victor scroll 20000-24000, Okeh, Gennett, Puritan are the most sought after and are definitely wanted. Though post war jazz on Commodore, Blue Note, Apollo etc. are not as sought after but sound quite nice. RCA Victor “hot jazz classics” and Columbia “Jazz Classics” series are more common still wanted records. Later English pressings of these on HMV, Parlophone, Columbia etc. are really nice too.
Extremely Old 7” Records - These are among the hardest to find and the earliest labels were E. Berliner’s Gramophone (Berliner for short) and often boot-legged Zonophone. These were also engraved and had no paper label, paper labels appearing in 1900/1901 were Monarch Record/Improved Record/10 Inch Record, Climax Record, Columbia Record etc. Do note that these labels also had 10” records which are still of much interest.
Advertisements/Catalogues/Related Items - From needle tins to posters I’d like them!
CYLINDERS
There are different types; brown wax (earliest type, identifiable by color), black wax, blue amberols, concert cylinders etc. though currently, due to lack of equipment and cylinders, not much preference for these though earlier brown wax cylinders and ones of historical importance would be more interesting. Please contact me if you have any phonograph cylinders!
